The Monsoon Forum on “ Enhancing Weather and Climate Resilience in RIMES Member States through Capacity Building on Impact Forecasting – Phase 2” was held on 20 December 2022 in Crowne Plaza, Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR.
The Forum was chaired by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology Chairperson, Ms. Outhone PHETLUANGSY Director General DMH of Lao PDR
The Monsoon Forum was attended by delegates in total 45 from different sectors which are concerning in utilization of seasonal weather prediction such as: Department of Meteorology, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Civilization of Lao PDR, AIS/METEO Officer, Lao National Television, Laos Red Cross, Department of Irrigation, Cabinet’s Office of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, DEPP, Department of Water Resources, Lao National Mekong Committee Secretariat, DESM, Lao National Radio, Ministry of Defense, NAFRI, MOES, Department of Agriculture, MOR, AIR
Mr. Bounteum SISOUPHANTHAVONG, Director of Weather Forecasting and Warning Division of DMH, he presented:
1. The Basic of Meteorology which concentrate to the climate characteristic in Lao PDR and the calendar of tropical precipitation event in Lao PDR such as summer monsoon, tropical storm/typhoon, thunderstorm, and winter season.
